Our language classes

Olio Learns is structured across three developmental levels: Explorers, Communicators, and Storytellers.

These levels reflect how children naturally build language — from single words, to connected sentences, to confident storytelling. Placement ensures that every learner is both supported and challenged in equal measure.

Most children begin in Explorers and naturally progress through each stage as their confidence grows.

For children beginning to use Spanish more confidently, building simple sentences and everyday vocabulary through playful, story-led interaction.

To join Explorers, children should:

• Understand basic Spanish at home

• Use short phrases or single words

• May respond in English often

• Limited confidence speaking

In Explorers, they begin to:

• Build simple, complete sentences

• Use everyday vocabulary with greater confidence

• Respond in Spanish more consistently

• Participate in supported conversations through guided storytelling

For children ready to expand their speaking, linking ideas together and expressing themselves with growing independence.

In Connectors, children begin to:

• Link ideas using simple connectors

• Speak in longer, more connected sentences

• Share opinions, preferences, and simple explanations

• Participate more independently in conversations and story-based tasks
