Your child understands Spanish… but doesn’t speak it

For children who understand Spanish but don’t feel confident speaking — through stories, culture, and small-group classes designed for real communication.

Why Olio Learns works

Stories make language meaningful

Through stories rooted in Colombian culture and place, children connect with their heritage in a way that feels real and personal.

Speaking is built into every lesson

Every child speaks, every session — no exceptions.

Small groups (max. 6 students)

No hiding, no waiting — your child gets real speaking time.

Printed materials at home

Speaking continues beyond the class, every week.

Olio learns is dedicated to helping your child use Spanish, not just recognise it.

Over time, your child will:

  • Begin responding in Spanish more consistently

  • Build simple, complete sentences.

  • Feel more confident speaking in everyday situations.

  • Participate in conversations — not just understand them.

This might sound familiar:

What changes for your child

Your child understands Spanish at home...

  • But responds in English

  • Feels shy or unsure when speaking

  • Avoids full sentences

  • Is slowly losing confidence

This is exactly what Olio Learns is designed to change.

Olio Learns helps children move from understanding to speaking

Not through memorisation — but through meaningful use of language.

About the founder

I grew up in Australia to immigrant parents, where language was more than communication — it was connection, identity, and belonging.

Today, I see the same challenge in many families: children who understand their heritage language… but don’t feel confident speaking it.

That’s why I created Olio Learns.

With a PhD in second language acquisition and years of experience designing and teaching in universities across Australia, my work has focused on one key question:

How do children actually develop real speaking ability?

Olio Learns is built from that answer.

As a multilingual educator — and a mother raising my own son with Spanish — this is not just professional work.

It’s personal.
